“But God made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. He has stretched out the heavens by his understanding.”  Jeremiah 10:12  NLT

I suppose few things could make me happier than sitting under the full expanse of the night sky with Famous on a beach. Add a full moon, and you might hear us both howling in grateful praise! The advantage of taking him for nightly walks is a rekindling of my love of astronomy and keeping up with the phasing of the moon and the march of the planets. We also catch quite a few shooting stars. Perhaps for a short time we can be the earthly version of Orion and Canis Major (the Great Dog), two of my favorite and brightest constellations.

The more science discovers new horizons on our planet and in the universe, the more I am convinced there is a power that set the universe in motion and governs it by His wisdom. Even leading minds have questioned how all of this could be completely random. Still, it is fascinating how we discover new principles and players all the time which challenge us to see beyond what we already know.

The hope given to all of us is that even after a hard day’s work in the heavens, God still ordained that Famous and I should be together in this place at this time. Perhaps, one day, too, we will be in the heavens as well.

God, help me to see your love for me in the beauty of the universe.
