“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
Every now and then, I hear Famous make a whimper, a short and high-pitched sound, which usually means he is stressed, perhaps confused. As a puppy in training, it usually meant he needed to go outside, and he knew I was the one who could help him get there. Now I hear it less frequently, for example if he cannot figure out whether I am asleep or not, perhaps if he wants to come up on the bed. This is quite different from his bark when he wants to give me information or play with me.
This scripture has been important to me through all of my life as it was included in my ordination service. It seemed particularly fitting today when the country is looking for leadership. I have heard much whimpering in the last few weeks, but it is God who is there to help us. He is the only true source of peace.
Bless me today, Father, with a sound mind and clear thought so that Your peace may abide in me.
