“Bright eyes encourage the heart; good news nourishes the body.” Proverbs 15:30 ISV
Bright eyes and a joyful tail wag — these are gifts given to us by our pets. Famous’ eyes are ever watchful and waiting as he hopes for that next chance to accompany me outside or an invitation to come and rest beside me as I sit on the floor. Even my simple arrival is great (not just good) news to him. But the gift is the joy I feel inside to know this gives him great pleasure as well.
Too often we allow the heaviness of our world to cloud our perception of God’s love for us. With such an outlook we are incapable of sharing the joy in our hearts. Our faces are drawn, our posture is demeaning, and we can even find ourselves loathing others who seem to have it better than ourselves or who are indifferent to our perceived struggles.
Christ has come to lift such a heaviness. His coming should not only encourage us but also cause us to thrive.
Help me to reflect the lightness of Your joy in my heart.
