“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”  John 14:27  NLT

Finally home. It is a joy to come home to be with Famous. It is not just because he is happy to see me, which is still the icing on the cake even on the best of days, but because we can just be. My day is filled with exercises in performance, responsibility, and critical thinking. (Just the kind of things to make a guy feel important!) Four tasks are waiting for me to finish the current one. As soon as I am done with one job I am moving to the next one. Planning time in the car and how to beat traffic, minutes at the table and what to consume, and how to manage extra time in preparation for the next month’s events are constantly streaming in my mind throughout the day. But when I walk through the door at the end of the day, Famous only asks for me to be with him.

This is the gift of peace from God–a sanctuary where we come before him just as we are. God does not judge us by how busy we are. He judges us by how much time we spend in his company.

Thank You, Father, for the sanctuary of Your presence.
