“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”  I Peter 5:6-7  NLT

I am exploring and understanding new insights into God’s care for me through the relationship I keep with my dog, Famous. I am only human, but my concern and care for Famous is central in my life. Unfortunately, I cannot be with him throughout every moment of his life. I did not create him, so there are many times that I do not understand him. In providing for him I am at a loss when at times he is ill, and I have to rely on others to help manage his care. And even with the best of intentions I sometimes create more stress in his life rather than comfort.

This is not the case with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is with us throughout every day. He knows our hearts and can provide every release from worry and care. We say that dog is man’s best friend. And although this is a great gift from our heavenly Father, it cannot surpass the “best friend” we have in Jesus.

Teach me to rely upon You this day, O Christ.
