“So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” II Corinthians 5:16-17 NLT
I love looking for new things in Famous–his reaction to a new dog, his sudden excitement over a favorite treat, and even his everyday discovery of new scents along our walks. He helps me to become a better explorer and uncover joy in the most mundane routines.
In some ways I have stopped seeing things from only a human point of view. When we are hiking together, I let him show me the direction of the wind, the freshest of bird droppings on the ground, or the eyes of a woodland creature at night. He has made me a person with new experiences and new insights that had eluded me before he came into my life. He helped me become a new and better person.
New life is the hallmark of a Christian life. We see and experience things differently because we understand Christ in a new light. We are new people in a way, because we understand the new significance of our lives and how God can use us for great purposes. We no longer desire to serve ourselves, but to serve our God and King.
Create in me a new heart with new ears to hear Your call, new eyes to see Your truth, and a new voice to proclaim Your Good News.
