ODE TO JOYFUL

Joyful, joyful, my person’s home,

I am no more left alone!

Now my life has found a purpose

Finally, my worry’s done.
Now I see my heart’s love is with me,

Now I know I have a friend.

Now I know I’ll get my supper

And a treat waits at the end.
Joyful, joyful, now I’m happy,

Never more will I be sad!

My week of pining has an ending

Your homecoming has made me glad!

P.S. I was really worried about you!

“What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face-to-face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete – as complete as God’s knowledge of me.”  I Corinthians 13:12  GNT

As well as I know Famous, and as good as my memory is of his looks, his behaviors, his habits, it is never as complete and full as seeing him face-to-face. I have been away for a week, longing for the time when I would see his face and hear his bark again. Memory and imagination can be strong, and even in my dreams he may appear real, but it cannot compare to being with him and interacting with him. It is good to be home!

God calls us to walk with him daily, for only if we spend time together can we find the many facets of his love which He desires to reveal to us. We can imagine God to be in many forms with many purposes, but these may not be true images if we have not invested the time to understand our relationship with our Creator. But even then our comprehension can only be a glimpse of the full knowledge which will be our reward in heaven.

Teach me to seek Your face each morning, O Lord, and commit what I learn to memory!

“And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life!”  I Kings 3:13  NLT

And so we are biblical. This passage from I Kings puts Rich and Famous together very nicely. Who would ever have guessed that a guy and his dog would be Rich and Famous? Now, I did pray for God to send me a dog who would be all I could ask for in a pet with the promise he would be cherished and accepted as a gift of life. And my riches have runneth over since he came into my heart and home. But I believe God can take the smallest offering and use it bear fruit for all of eternity.

Dear Lord, open my eyes to the possibilities in the things I hold dear. Help me to return them to You for Your glory.
