“And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life!” I Kings 3:13 NLT
And so we are biblical. This passage from I Kings puts Rich and Famous together very nicely. Who would ever have guessed that a guy and his dog would be Rich and Famous? Now, I did pray for God to send me a dog who would be all I could ask for in a pet with the promise he would be cherished and accepted as a gift of life. And my riches have runneth over since he came into my heart and home. But I believe God can take the smallest offering and use it bear fruit for all of eternity.
Dear Lord, open my eyes to the possibilities in the things I hold dear. Help me to return them to You for Your glory.
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” II Corinthians 2:15 NIV
The best part of my walk with Famous this afternoon? It was the sweet, sudden smell of honeysuckle.
Dear Lord, I desire to make my life an offering that is pleasing to You. Help me to give myself up in honor of You.
“Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone.” Luke 6:19 NLT
What comfort comes from the power of touch! When illness arrives your routine and planned activities have to change. There is a slowing of pace, and time is created for the body to rest and heal. It can be peaceful, but it can also be isolating and frustrating. But even the simple act of patting a dog’s head or stroking his coat can bring soothing. I suppose this is well-known for those who use therapy pets in hospitals and nursing homes. But even the company which Famous brings is encouraging when I am under the weather.
All healing comes from God whether it is physical healing or spiritual restoration. If we recognize God as the source of this power, we can find it in the presence of his creation, and we ourselves can be used as instruments of healing.
Heal my broken spirit with Your power and enable me to touch in some way those who need Your healing.
