“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”  Matthew 7:24-27  NIV

It is during our walks as we cross the street when Famous and I utilize differing judgments. Famous chooses the diagonal direction which in the long run would seem to be the quickest path to our destination. What he does not realize is that this keeps us in a busy street a few seconds longer than my path which cuts directly across the street to the sidewalk on the other side. He insists his choice is best, but I have knowledge which will protect both of us in the long run.

Do we start each morning thinking we know what is going to happen without consulting the One who should direct our paths? How  can we know the obstacles and dangers which we will confront, and how best can we deal with them as we move through the day? Listen for God’s voice in the morning. Follow his counsel, and He will lead you around the sinking sands.

Forgive me when I put my own agenda ahead of God’s plan for my day.
